I offer high quality 1-on-1 or small group training for a fraction of the cost of everyone else. My gym has everything you need. Incredible offerings and workout programming, great coaching, and hands down the best value and fitness atmosphere in Westminster.
I’ve competed in some form of sport or athletics nearly my entire life, be it baseball, football, wrestling, and track/field, (all of which I did through high school). I also competed in track as a sprinter for the University of Colorado intermittently as a walk-on and open athlete from 2002-2005. My focus was the 200m, and 400m, but I also competed in the 100m, 60m, long jump, and relays.
College track was an exciting yet injury-filled, frustrating affair due to the amount of work/time put in with little to show for it in terms of accomplishments and lack of attaining a scholarship. Nevertheless I graduated in 2006 with a BA in Anthropology and immediately started a family right out of the gate! I would also later get my MA in Foreign Studies and National Security Operations from AMU.
However, after finishing with college athletics and graduating from the University of Colorado, I (like many people), lost touch with my competitive nature and desire to be as active and fit as I once was. For nearly three years my focus was trying to start a career and support my very young family. My fitness and physique suffered.
Then In 2009, my twin brother Travis, who was at the time helping fight a war in Afghanistan as an Army Infantryman, introduced me to the concept of CrossFit, which was one of the main strength and conditioning programs used by military and paramilitary personnel. He said I had to try it. As I mentioned, for years I had only trained occasionally and was relatively out of shape, claiming I had no time for it. He said that was the thing, the workouts were short and intense. Easy to fit in. Well, long story short I was immediately hooked and used it to get back into shape and begin competing in sprints again after about 4 months. It changed my life and returned me to the heart of athleticism. I felt like myself again.
Still for years as I tried to climb up the latter of business security management and analytics, I only coached athletes off and on and only included CrossFit’s training theory into some of my own programming. I tried repeatedly to break into the United States Intelligence Community and was making some progress. However, I was left very unfulfilled. I wanted to make a difference and really help people.
So in the Spring of 2013, I decided to quit my career and go out on my own. With encouragement from family and friends, Puga Athletics and Fitness was born. From that time on I have taken my own training to the next level as I have trained others. In early 2014 I rediscovered CrossFit as my primary sport, training philosophy, and program. As a reward I’ve never been as strong, fit, or athletic as I am now.
One thing that is extremely important when trying to be a successful coach or athlete is that you need to put the time into your trade. Getting a certification is only the start. Anyone can get a cert, not everyone can coach. It takes time and experience to become a great coach. You have to know the proper ways to get people to move correctly, perform the skills correctly, when to scale or modify a move/weight, how to read athletes, and most importantly keep everyone safe.
My philosophy is that you receive sound, professional, and personal coaching in each session. I believe that sport and fitness changes lives, and can be the answer for many of life’s problems. My goal is to change the way you look, feel, and perform in order to be the strongest version of yourself that you can be.
